"Chicago" tells the tale of wanna-be star Roxie Hart, who hopes to make it big in showbiz. Trapped in a loveless marriage to dull Amos, Roxie murders her lying boyfriend, who only used her. Her crime of passion lands her in jail with her idol, Velma Kelly, a rising star on trial for murder. While awaiting trial, Roxie and Velma join forces to plot their strategy. Desperate to save her life and start her singing career, Roxie begs Velma's notorious lawyer Billy Flynn to defend her. He hatches a razzle-dazzle defense for both women that rocks the legal system to its core, gaining their freedom. As their fame fades when another murder makes the front page, Roxie and Velma realize their big break was only an illusion.
